<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/beile.fr\/en\/tintin-america-record\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">tied to a torture pole on the first plate of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tintin in America<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  from 1942, the tuft reporter successively staged two different cover drawings for this same adventure.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The first cover was in October 1932, the year of publication of the album<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Tintin in America<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Herg\u00e9 had chosen the moment when his young hero, sitting on a large stone, feeds on the contents of a pan, while Indians watch him in the background. First published under the label \u00abLes \u00e9ditions du Petit Vingti\u00e8me\u00bb, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tintin in America<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> was taken over by Casterman, still under the same cover, from 1934. The original of this drawing is a Chinese ink painted with gouache. It belonged for several years to Jean-Louis Carette, then manager of the Brussels bookstore La Bande des six nez, which he co-founded in 1980, and president of the Belgian Chamber of Comic Strip Experts. He kept this treasure in a safe at the bank. Asked about the value of this coin by a team from  <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Capital<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (M6 TV Show) issue in 1997, he recalled that <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00abwhen we talk about 1 million French francs, it is a common quote for an original of this quality\u00bb<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. 1 million francs, the equivalent of around 220,000 euros, taking inflation into account. In 2008, the design changed hands : it was acquired by another individual for 764,000 euros. The latter sold it quite quickly : the work reached more than 1.3 million euros at Artcurial in 2012. Owned by an art collector, it has not yet reappeared on the market. <\/span><\/p><p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At the end of 1936, Charles Lesne, Herg\u00e9\u2019s correspondent at Casterman, asked the cartoonist to design four color hors-texte for a reprint of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tintin in America<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (always in black and white). And while we are at it, it would be good to imagine a new cover, for, he wrote to her, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\"these Redskins are already seen.\"<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Herg\u00e9 executed himself and, in June 1937, he gave Casterman an unpublished drawing: Tintin, accompanied by his faithful Milou, handling a lasso on the back of a galloping horse. The new edition of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tintin in America<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> appeared in November of the same year. There is no trace of the original of this drawing. It is not in the archives of Herg\u00e9 Studios, and the eventual possessor of this Chinese ink has never come forward. D\u2019abord paru sous le label \u00ab\u00a0Les \u00e9ditions du Petit Vingti\u00e8me\u00a0\u00bb, Tintin en Am\u00e9rique fut repris par Casterman, toujours sous cette m\u00eame couverture, \u00e0 partir de 1934. L\u2019original de ce dessin est une encre de Chine peinte \u00e0 la gouache. Il a appartenu pendant plusieurs ann\u00e9es \u00e0 Jean-Louis Carette, alors g\u00e9rant de la librairie bruxelloise La Bande des six nez, qu\u2019il a cofond\u00e9e en 1980, et pr\u00e9sident de la Chambre des experts belges en bande dessin\u00e9e. Il conservait ce tr\u00e9sor dans un coffre \u00e0 la banque. Interrog\u00e9 sur la valeur de cette pi\u00e8ce par une \u00e9quipe de l\u2019\u00e9mission Capital (M6), en 1997, il rappelait que \u00ab\u00a0quand on parle de 1 million de francs fran\u00e7ais, c\u2019est une cote courante pour un original de cette qualit\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb. 1 million de francs, soit l\u2019\u00e9quivalent d\u2019environ 220\u00a0000 euros, en tenant compte de l\u2019inflation. En 2008, le dessin changea de mains\u00a0: il fut acquis par un autre particulier pour 764\u00a0000 euros. Ce dernier le remit assez rapidement en vente\u00a0: l\u2019\u0153uvre atteignit plus de 1,3 million d\u2019euros chez Artcurial en 2012. Propri\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u2019un collectionneur d\u2019art, elle n\u2019est pour le moment pas reparue sur le march\u00e9.\u00a0 Fin 1936, Charles Lesne, correspondant d\u2019Herg\u00e9 chez Casterman, demanda au dessinateur de concevoir quatre hors-texte en couleurs \u00e0 l\u2019occasion d\u2019une r\u00e9impression de Tintin en Am\u00e9rique (toujours en noir et blanc). Et, tant qu\u2019\u00e0 faire, il serait bon d\u2019imaginer une nouvelle couverture car, lui \u00e9crivit-il, \u00ab\u00a0ces Peaux-Rouges, c\u2019est fort \u201cd\u00e9j\u00e0 vu\u201d\u00a0\u00bb. Herg\u00e9 s\u2019ex\u00e9cuta et, en juin 1937, il remit \u00e0 Casterman un dessin in\u00e9dit\u00a0: Tintin, accompagn\u00e9 de son fid\u00e8le Milou, manipulant un lasso sur le dos d\u2019un cheval lanc\u00e9 au galop. La nouvelle \u00e9dition de Tintin en Am\u00e9rique parut en novembre de la m\u00eame ann\u00e9e. On n\u2019a aujourd\u2019hui aucune trace de l\u2019original de ce dessin. Il ne figure pas dans les archives des Studios Herg\u00e9, et l\u2019\u00e9ventuel possesseur de cette encre de Chine ne s\u2019est jamais manifest\u00e9. La premi\u00e8re couverture date d\u2019octobre 1932, ann\u00e9e de publication de l\u2019album Tintin en Am\u00e9rique. Herg\u00e9 avait choisi le moment o\u00f9 son jeune h\u00e9ros, assis sur une grosse pierre, se nourrit du contenu d\u2019une casserole, tandis que des Indiens l\u2019\u00e9pient au second plan. D\u2019abord paru sous le label \u00ab\u00a0Les \u00e9ditions du Petit Vingti\u00e8me\u00a0\u00bb, Tintin en Am\u00e9rique fut repris par Casterman, toujours sous cette m\u00eame couverture, \u00e0 partir de 1934. L\u2019original de ce dessin est une encre de Chine peinte \u00e0 la gouache. Il a appartenu pendant plusieurs ann\u00e9es \u00e0 Jean-Louis Carette, alors g\u00e9rant de la librairie bruxelloise La Bande des six nez, qu\u2019il a cofond\u00e9e en 1980, et pr\u00e9sident de la Chambre des experts belges en bande dessin\u00e9e. Il conservait ce tr\u00e9sor dans un coffre \u00e0 la banque. Interrog\u00e9 sur la valeur de cette pi\u00e8ce par une \u00e9quipe de l\u2019\u00e9mission Capital (M6), en 1997, il rappelait que \u00ab\u00a0quand on parle de 1 million de francs fran\u00e7ais, c\u2019est une cote courante pour un original de cette qualit\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb. 1 million de francs, soit l\u2019\u00e9quivalent d\u2019environ 220\u00a0000 euros, en tenant compte de l\u2019inflation. En 2008, le dessin changea de mains\u00a0: il fut acquis par un autre particulier pour 764\u00a0000 euros. Ce dernier le remit assez rapidement en vente\u00a0: l\u2019\u0153uvre atteignit plus de 1,3 million d\u2019euros chez Artcurial en 2012. Propri\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u2019un collectionneur d\u2019art, elle n\u2019est pour le moment pas reparue sur le march\u00e9.\u00a0 Fin 1936, Charles Lesne, correspondant d\u2019Herg\u00e9 chez Casterman, demanda au dessinateur de concevoir quatre hors-texte en couleurs \u00e0 l\u2019occasion d\u2019une r\u00e9impression de Tintin en Am\u00e9rique (toujours en noir et blanc). Et, tant qu\u2019\u00e0 faire, il serait bon d\u2019imaginer une nouvelle couverture car, lui \u00e9crivit-il, \u00ab\u00a0ces Peaux-Rouges, c\u2019est fort \u201cd\u00e9j\u00e0 vu\u201d\u00a0\u00bb. Herg\u00e9 s\u2019ex\u00e9cuta et, en juin 1937, il remit \u00e0 Casterman un dessin in\u00e9dit\u00a0: Tintin, accompagn\u00e9 de son fid\u00e8le Milou, manipulant un lasso sur le dos d\u2019un cheval lanc\u00e9 au galop. La nouvelle \u00e9dition de Tintin en Am\u00e9rique parut en novembre de la m\u00eame ann\u00e9e. On n\u2019a aujourd\u2019hui aucune trace de l\u2019original de ce dessin. Il ne figure pas dans les archives des Studios Herg\u00e9, et l\u2019\u00e9ventuel possesseur de cette encre de Chine ne s\u2019est jamais manifest\u00e9.
