9 February 1939. Tintin is convinced that a plot is brewing against the Syldavian sovereign. His arrival in the country was not easy; he even escaped execution. One solution: <\/span>\u201cLet\u2019s go quickly and warn King Muskar XII of the danger that threatens him\u2026\u201d <\/span><\/i>, says the reporter, on his way to the Royal Palace.<\/span><\/p>

A week later, the reader of the <\/span>Petit Vingti\u00e8me<\/span><\/i> discovers a crucial scene on the cover of No. 7: a butler, stiff as a picket pole, advances in the foreground. Tintin and Milou follow him closely. In the background stands a guard, the torso bulging. Well polished, the tiles slightly reflect the legs of the characters and the legs of Milou. No doubt, the hero is in the residence of the Syldave head of state. Under the drawing, a sentence adds to the suspense: <\/span>\"Will Tintin be received by S.M. Muskar XII?\"<\/span><\/i><\/p>

On the cover of the <\/span>Petit Vingti\u00e8me<\/span><\/i>, the design is enhanced by two colors called \u00absupport\u00bb: green and red. <\/span>The twentieth century<\/span><\/i> and its supplements were printed in typography, and the colors were affixed approximately and in limited numbers.<\/span><\/p>

The original in Chinese ink appeared in an Artcurial sale dedicated to Herg\u00e9 in 2017. Initially left in black and white, it had been painted in watercolor and white gouache by the draftsman the day he offered it to a relationship. This is not an isolated case: Herg\u00e9 did the same with some other covers of the <\/span>Petit Vingti\u00e8me<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>

Estimated between 600 and 800,000 euros by expert \u00c9ric Leroy, the drawing only reached 505,000 euros at the sale on 18 November 2017.<\/span><\/p>

Now this drawing evoking a sequence of <\/span>Ottokar\u2019s Sceptrer<\/span><\/i> has recently resurfaced. On March 17, the Farrando house organized a sale under the generic title <\/span>Complete furniture of a Parisian apartment and various<\/span><\/i>. Many objects of art, paintings, plates, carpets, armchairs and other dresses have succeeded each other under the hammer of the auctioneer. In the middle of all these lots, only one piece had a connection with the comic strip: Herg\u00e9\u2019s cover drawing for <\/span>Le Petit Vingti\u00e8me<\/span><\/i> of February 16th, 1939. The estimate was lower than that set by Artcurial at the time: between 350 and 500,000 euros. But despite a press release on actuabd.com and a conference by expert Michel Coste, <\/span>Herg\u00e9's place in the auctions<\/span><\/i>, the day before the auction, fans of Tintin did not jostle: Milou, his master and the butler did not find a buyer. This little jewel of Herg\u00e9 will undoubtedly be seen again in the near future in another sale, preferably devoted to the ninth art.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Tintin et Milou le suivent de pr\u00e8s. Au fond se tient un garde, le torse bomb\u00e9. Bien lustr\u00e9es, les dalles r\u00e9fl\u00e9chissent l\u00e9g\u00e8rement les jambes des personnages et les pattes de Milou. Pas de doute, le h\u00e9ros se trouve dans la r\u00e9sidence du chef de l\u2019\u00c9tat syldave. Sous le dessin, une phrase ajoute au suspense\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Tintin sera-t-il re\u00e7u par S.M. Muskar XII\u00a0?\u00a0\u00bb Sur la couverture du Petit Vingti\u00e8me, le dessin est rehauss\u00e9 de deux couleurs dites \u00ab\u00a0de soutien\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0: le vert et le rouge. Le Vingti\u00e8me Si\u00e8cle et ses suppl\u00e9ments \u00e9taient imprim\u00e9s en typographie, et les couleurs \u00e9taient appos\u00e9es approximativement et en nombre limit\u00e9. L\u2019original \u00e0 l\u2019encre de Chine est apparu dans une vente Artcurial consacr\u00e9e \u00e0 Herg\u00e9 en 2017. Initialement laiss\u00e9 en noir et blanc, il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 peint \u00e0 l\u2019aquarelle et \u00e0 la gouache blanche par le dessinateur le jour o\u00f9 il l\u2019offrit \u00e0 une relation. Ce n\u2019est pas un cas isol\u00e9\u00a0: Herg\u00e9 en fit de m\u00eame avec quelques autres couvertures du Petit Vingti\u00e8me. Estim\u00e9 entre 600 et 800\u00a0000 euros par l\u2019expert \u00c9ric Leroy, le dessin n\u2019atteignit \u00ab\u00a0que\u00a0\u00bb 505\u00a0000 euros lors de la vente du 18 novembre 2017. Or voici que ce dessin \u00e9voquant donc une s\u00e9quence du Sceptre d\u2019Ottokar a r\u00e9cemment refait surface. La maison Farrando a organis\u00e9 le 17 mars dernier une vente sous le titre g\u00e9n\u00e9rique Entier mobilier d\u2019un appartement parisien et \u00e0 divers. De nombreux objets d\u2019art, peintures, assiettes, tapis, fauteuils et autres commodes se sont succ\u00e9d\u00e9 sous le marteau du commissaire-priseur. Au milieu de tous ces lots, une seule pi\u00e8ce avait un rapport avec la bande dessin\u00e9e\u00a0: le dessin de couverture d\u2019Herg\u00e9 pour Le Petit Vingti\u00e8me du 16 f\u00e9vrier 1939. L\u2019estimation \u00e9tait inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle fix\u00e9e par Artcurial en son temps\u00a0: entre 350 et 500\u00a0000 euros. Mais malgr\u00e9 un communiqu\u00e9 sur le site actuabd.com et une conf\u00e9rence de l\u2019expert Michel Coste, La Place d\u2019Herg\u00e9 dans les ventes aux ench\u00e8res, la veille de la mise \u00e0 l\u2019encan, les amateurs de Tintin ne se sont pas bouscul\u00e9s\u00a0: Milou, son ma\u00eetre et le majordome n\u2019ont pas trouv\u00e9 preneur. Sans doute reverra-t-on dans un futur proche ce petit bijou d\u2019Herg\u00e9 dans une autre vente, de pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence consacr\u00e9e au neuvi\u00e8me art. Une semaine apr\u00e8s, le lecteur du Petit Vingti\u00e8me d\u00e9couvre une sc\u00e8ne cruciale en couverture du n\u00b0\u00a07\u00a0: un majordome, raide comme un piquet, s\u2019avance au premier plan. Tintin et Milou le suivent de pr\u00e8s. Au fond se tient un garde, le torse bomb\u00e9. Bien lustr\u00e9es, les dalles r\u00e9fl\u00e9chissent l\u00e9g\u00e8rement les jambes des personnages et les pattes de Milou. Pas de doute, le h\u00e9ros se trouve dans la r\u00e9sidence du chef de l\u2019\u00c9tat syldave. Sous le dessin, une phrase ajoute au suspense\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Tintin sera-t-il re\u00e7u par S.M. Muskar XII\u00a0?\u00a0\u00bb Sur la couverture du Petit Vingti\u00e8me, le dessin est rehauss\u00e9 de deux couleurs dites \u00ab\u00a0de soutien\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0: le vert et le rouge. Le Vingti\u00e8me Si\u00e8cle et ses suppl\u00e9ments \u00e9taient imprim\u00e9s en typographie, et les couleurs \u00e9taient appos\u00e9es approximativement et en nombre limit\u00e9. L\u2019original \u00e0 l\u2019encre de Chine est apparu dans une vente Artcurial consacr\u00e9e \u00e0 Herg\u00e9 en 2017. Initialement laiss\u00e9 en noir et blanc, il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 peint \u00e0 l\u2019aquarelle et \u00e0 la gouache blanche par le dessinateur le jour o\u00f9 il l\u2019offrit \u00e0 une relation. Ce n\u2019est pas un cas isol\u00e9\u00a0: Herg\u00e9 en fit de m\u00eame avec quelques autres couvertures du Petit Vingti\u00e8me. Estim\u00e9 entre 600 et 800\u00a0000 euros par l\u2019expert \u00c9ric Leroy, le dessin n\u2019atteignit \u00ab\u00a0que\u00a0\u00bb 505\u00a0000 euros lors de la vente du 18 novembre 2017. Or voici que ce dessin \u00e9voquant donc une s\u00e9quence du Sceptre d\u2019Ottokar a r\u00e9cemment refait surface. La maison Farrando a organis\u00e9 le 17 mars dernier une vente sous le titre g\u00e9n\u00e9rique Entier mobilier d\u2019un appartement parisien et \u00e0 divers. De nombreux objets d\u2019art, peintures, assiettes, tapis, fauteuils et autres commodes se sont succ\u00e9d\u00e9 sous le marteau du commissaire-priseur. Au milieu de tous ces lots, une seule pi\u00e8ce avait un rapport avec la bande dessin\u00e9e\u00a0: le dessin de couverture d\u2019Herg\u00e9 pour Le Petit Vingti\u00e8me du 16 f\u00e9vrier 1939. L\u2019estimation \u00e9tait inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle fix\u00e9e par Artcurial en son temps\u00a0: entre 350 et 500\u00a0000 euros. Mais malgr\u00e9 un communiqu\u00e9 sur le site actuabd.com et une conf\u00e9rence de l\u2019expert Michel Coste, La Place d\u2019Herg\u00e9 dans les ventes aux ench\u00e8res, la veille de la mise \u00e0 l\u2019encan, les amateurs de Tintin ne se sont pas bouscul\u00e9s\u00a0: Milou, son ma\u00eetre et le majordome n\u2019ont pas trouv\u00e9 preneur. Sans doute reverra-t-on dans un futur proche ce petit bijou d\u2019Herg\u00e9 dans une autre vente, de pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence consacr\u00e9e au neuvi\u00e8me art.
