Auction sale :
The return of Tintin at Tajan

The famous Parisian auction house will be selling a collection of albums by Tintin and other Hergé series on Wednesday 23 October at 7pm. All in exceptional condition.

They are both celebrating their return to the rue des Mathurins, home of the Tajan firm. Who are they? Tintin and Daniel Pérez! Tintin had not had a sale devoted exclusively to him at this major auction house since 2001. As for the latter, he is the man behind Tajan's comics department, which he set up in 1995. He was also one of the experts at the event R.G. of 2001. When, in 2005, François Tajan decided to leave his father's company to join Artcurial, Daniel Pérez followed suit. For almost twenty years, he worked at the Hôtel d'Espeyran, on the Champs-Élysées roundabout, pursuing his passion for Franco-Belgian ninth art. After a brief stint at ARP (Art Research Paris) last year, the adventurer of comic expertise has returned home.

Another auction Tintin ? There have been more than forty in Paris since 1990, and they have multiplied to the point of nausea - in Belgium too - in recent times. But only a handful of them are really big events. The forthcoming sale, Prestige albums by HergéThis is certainly one of the best. It is limited to 75 lots, but they are all of exceptional quality: they are comics in superb condition, sometimes bordering on new. Felipe Ortiz-Patiño, a member of a famous family of art collectors, put together this unique collection in the 1990s. Some copies come directly from the Casterman printing works, while others have been acquired at auction.

From the first black and white editions (Tintin in the land of the Soviets et ses petits frères) to the last completed colour adventure (Tintin and the Picaros), all the reporter's episodes will be displayed under the gavel of Louise de Causans. The most demanding collectors will be hoping to walk away with one of the first prints signed by Hergé - or Tintin and Snowy! - that they are missing. The more curious and the more hergéologues will be interested in Quick and Flupke (in black and white, a marvel!), to Jo, Zette and Jockoor even a volume of the little-known L'Oiseau de FranceThe story was written by a certain R.A. Hédoin, and Hergé designed the cover.

The most moving item in the sale, however, was this original model of the 'Pop-Hop' from Treasure of Rackham the Red (1971), on which Michel Demarets, a collaborator of Studios Hergé, worked in particular. At the time, six of Tintin's adventures had been adapted into "Pop-Hop" system books (in English and French). pop-up) published by Hallmark. Proportionately speaking, will this unique piece set a new sales record? Find out next week.
